suggestions for tuner??

My Boss effects pedal has a tuner, but I would like something smaller and a bit more portable, and does not require inline wiring.

Saw a chromatic tuner on ebay for something like $20.....Joyo Brand I think.....it clamps onto the headstock....I have seen these on accoustic guitars.....will they work on an electric bass, or do I need something that will plug into my guitar via standard guitar cable?

For a clip on, some of the cheaper brands/models don't have some of the low range... I love the Korg Aw-1... I use it on my basses and tubas and lots of other instruments...fast, easy, accurate

I'm not finding a problem with my cheap clip-on mounted on the headstock & reading a low B on a solid electric. If it is an issue with the one you get, bridge plucking &/or a 12th fret harmonic can help give it a more palatable signal.

Love that cheap little thing!! It's great when working on a bass (setup or restringing). And it's fun at acoustic jams; just clip it on the headstock of a guitarist who INSISTS he's in tune.

Eventually you'll love a pedal tuner. The mute function is very handy onstage (wished more people used it . When you get looking, compare the Boss' reading accuracy with the Korgs.

No mute function on my Boss effects pedal....that would be a nice feature.

The clip-on is a Solutions brand, but it's just another cheap chinese POS clip-on. Grab one that has the right price in a store, clip it on a bass' headstock (5 string if you can) & try the low B. If it works; buy it. I think it was $20 Cdn.

I believe my floor model is the Korg DT-10. Not their newer Boss shaped one; this one's roughly the size of a SansAmp. Silver & has the jacks on the rear.

N-Tune volume knob tuner. $80. Their site shows it installed on a bass. Replaces the volume knob. Pulling up on the know goes into tuning mode and bypasses the output of the axe. "Gibson" version is 250K, "Strat" version is 500K.
