Summer of Drum Corps!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
So its that getting to that time of year when the drum corps' take over the highways and football fields.

I'm a member of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. We start All Days (rehersal everyday for about three weeks) May 25, start tour on June 16, and get back home around August 13. We will end up traveling most of the country on busses and sleeping on gym floors. When we're not traveling we'll either be rehersing on a football field of some high school somewhere or doing a show in front of thousands of screaming fans. For those of you who know about drum corps you might know how big a year this will be for the Troopers since we are coming back after a one year hiatus. So, if any of you have an oppourtunity to see a show this summer you should do it; you will not be disappointed.

I'll be leaving soon but if anybody has any questions about the Troopers or drum corps in general go ahead and ask in this thread and I'll try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Cool stuff. I was always ineligible due to the severe lack of a need for sax players in DCI, but a buddy of mine is one of the drum majors for Carolina Crown this year.

Not to direspectful or anything but I hope DCI never allows woodwinds since that would just make us marching bands. DCI is making so many changes that aren't making many people happy and that better not be one of them. With that said I'm always amazed but the dedication a woodwind player has to learn a new instrument just to march in a drum corps.

This is a little different. The American version of drum corps. Percussion, brass, and color guard; no pipes. I did see a bunch of pipe bands when I was in Scotland and I enjoyed it very much. Check out dci.org to learn more.
