I've got a few questions that I'd like anyone and everyone to answer, but preferably people who have toured with a band in recent years. This band doesn't need to be big, it doesn't need to be small. Anyone who plays at the smaller venues in and around town (for example, in Toronto, NOT the ACC or Molson Amphitheater, or what have you. I'm thinking like 1000 or less capacity at most), regardless of what town or city you live in. I need to get an idea for my band, and I think if we had all of this information in one thread, a lot of people could also look here in the future. Then again, if something like this already exists, could someone point me in that direction.
Now to the questions:
Is your band signed to a label, whether independent or.. big?
Is there a typical time of the year that your band tours, or plays a lot more shows than other times in the year?
How long is your band's typical tour? (days long, as well as shows played)
Where does your band typically tour?
What is the average capacity of the veneus you play? (take a stab)
Does your band sell any merchandise?
If your band doesn't have merchandise, is there a specific reason, and do you wish you had it?
If your band does have merchandise, how much do you sell during each show?
How much does your band pay to get each item?
How much does each item generally sell for?
Which items are the biggest sellers? (cds, t-shirts, stickers, etc)
Any information people can give, even in pointform answer is greatly appreciated. You'll be helping out myself, my friends and countless other people who may read this thread in days to come
