Matt Nathanson on Leno right now

Bass player has his rig turned SL firing across the stage

Deaf in one Ear?

It's a pretty packed stage but he could have fit it back there somewhere.

Can't say that would even feel natural coming from one side...

I noticed, can't say I'd repeat it.

Anybody else put their rig anywhere other than behind or in front of themselves?

Fixed. I wasn't paying attention when I posted that, and forgot the bulk of what I was trying to say. Sorry bout that.

I've actually seen this done quite a few times at some bigger shows. The bassist will run their main rig facing the audience and use an old, beatup ampeg next to their side of the stage and use it as a monitor. I think it's kind of silly IMO but hey, different strokes I guess.

Yup!

Although, technically the amp is behind me in this pic, it *is* pointing across the stage. Greenfield's has a kick a** PA and stage. So the amp is just a monitor. By turning it sideways, I get a better wash over the stage. It also has less effect on the FOH which makes the sound guy happy.

Dad would often talk about "back in the day" turning their amps side ways firing on and off stage to control the front mix,

taking note we were playing a wedding at the local civic center and the stage is extremely live in there and they came over several songs in a row and asked us to turn down to the point we looked at each other and said "Seriously?"

So we did turn our amps towards each other and continued on about our business... Everyone was happy, and we felt like we were at practice...
