SX Guitars, as good as the basses?

I am looking for a cheep tele to mod, and wondered if the SX guitars are as good as you guys say their basses are?

They sell a LOT of these. They looked better with the old headstock though. I've heard as long as you stick with the non-tremelo SX guitars you'll be okay. The tuners may be kinda crappy though.

I have an SX flying V. Replaced the stock bridge humbucker, and the tuners, and mounted straplocks. Pretty decent guitar now.
