This may not be the right place for this but I figured most people would see it here. I've had the pleasure of seeing the Dixie Dregs live several time and have always enjoyed his playing. Sad.

Are they calling that "natural causes" I wonder? He sure seemed pretty young...mid/late 50's, right? Very sad indeed. Monster talent.

Got the news from Roy Vogt, very sad indeed.

Never met T, but spoke with Steve several times, and like JimmyM know Dave pretty well (4 years of lessons, 5 years of working in his shop), and I'm sure this is a huge blow to them. T was a fantastic musician, and really seemed like he was a great person as well.

He'll be missed....

Next time you speak to Dave, tell him I said hey...I suck at keeping in touch with folks when I move.

T Lavitz had at least one instructional video out for aspiring fusion keyboard players and I own it. If he had more, I'll probably acquire them as well, because he offers such a down to Earth logistical approach to relative modal improvisation. Unique name and a great player/contributor to the overall Dregs sound, I'm blown away by this stunning news as I just stumbled upon it. Never got around to seeing the Dregs live, but their music was certainly a defining moment in my life as I fell in love with Steve Morse's vision and each of the members in the band per their significant contributions. We all must pass eventually, but I certainly didn't expect to hear about any of The Dregs members departing this soon. In honor of T Lavitz, I'll be reviewing his video this weekend showing my respect and acknowledging his legacy. Thx T! You were truly great!!

One of my faves.
I guess that "Players" reunion (Lavitz/Smith/Berlin/Henderson) I've been hoping for, for years, will now never happen.

Bummer. I really love his playing on all of the Dixie Dregs albums. Will listen to "I'm Freaking Out" in honor of him.
