Taking 1 tube out of a 2 tubed amp

Would I be able to remove one of the tubes from a Fender Blues Deville with out losing tonal quality in order to lower the wattage if I had broughten it to the shop to get re biased? Or could I replace the 2 power tubes with 2 different kind that may put out less power?

Nope, it's a balanced arrangement and both power tubes need to be in there.

Not sure how well this works with that amp though. There are many different manufacturers of similar products too, this is just an example. Do some serious research before you buy, as always.

Hi, a e i o u.

The amp section might give more (better ?) results even though the amp in question isn't a bass amp. Ask the amp mods, they'll tell You.

+10 for the Passingwinds' suggestions, specially for the serious research part. While tube adapters do work and usually work very well, the expected performance seldom happens without some minor adjustments.

Taking the amp to a tube amp tech is Your best bet IMO.

Easiest way would be to get a power-soak. You connect them in place of the speaker, and they absorb some of the power before passing the rest on to the real speakers. The amp just thiks its driving a regular speaker but less volume comes out. You wouldn't need to mod your amp, and coud remove it as needed. They tend to be aimed at guitarists who "need" to run their amps hot.
