I know there are other threads on this subject, but searching didn't help much (curse you crappy search function).
Anyway, I've been getting more and more into metal to expand my musical tastes. I've been listening to some Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Rob Zombie and the like, and am looking for more, whether from these same artists or some similar. I can tolerate a bit of screaming, but not a lot.
Stuff I used to listen to was just about everything. I firmly believe that there is good in all music, just more in some genres than others. Some of my favorite bands/artists are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Marcus Miller, Muse, Aerosmith, Eminem, Rush, Fort Minor, Michael Jackson when he was still black, T.A.T.U., Jamiroquai, and pretty much anything Claypool has even looked at, among others that I can't think of off the top of my head. I'm also very interested in metal by bands that speak languages other than English (Pentagram was pretty good, until I kept running into songs in English).
I know we have a lot of metal guys out there, so show me the light!

Instru-metal/Post-metal stuff like Red Sparowes and Russian Circles.

Bullet For My Valentine has some songs without much screaming but some songs have a lot. Cradle of Filth is just about all screaming but it's a little different. The guy screams in different tones so you might like that. Plus the instrumental aspect of that band is amazing. |

The only Slipknot song I'm familiar with is Duality, which I really like and I see it's on that Vol. 3 album. Also, I'm familiar with the band CoF, but not really the music. I'll have to check them out. Quote:

Instru-metal/Post-metal stuff like Red Sparowes and Russian Circles. | Any suggestions as far as songs or albums that are representative of their style? Just searching the band name on youtube can get you some pretty obscure stuff that doesn't really show who they are, ya know?

I could give you a list longer than your arm; a mix of modern takes and old school metal. But, just to toss out a name for you to check out for the sake of expanding your tastes, I'd say have a look/listen at/to Evergrey. They are quite interesting, and quite good too. |

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! A lot of good stuff I've both never heard of and/or forgotten about.
