My band is taking photo's this thursday. I'm undecided on what shirt to wear, Rush or Iron Maiden. I'm leaning more towards Maiden. Any suggestions? |

Any suggestions? | I'm a huge Rush fan and sometimes wear a Rush T-shirt for gigs. However, unless your band's music is heavily influenced by Rush or Maiden I wouldn't wear either in a photo promoting your band.

But seriously, if you really want to wear another band's shirt, go with Rush.

Some of the basslines I play are Maiden like (tho nowhere near as good) but I could see where yall are coming from. I've got a plain black long sleeve shirt I could wear. I've decided I'm going to be the guy leaning up against the wall wearing aviators...I'm so original |

And given the generally uneducated public, if someone sees Iron Maiden they're going to get a totally different idea of your band than if they see Rush. And neither is probably what your band is about I'd bet.
Wear something that makes you look like part of the band, and that fits the general style of music you play. The photo's purpose isn't to show how "cool" you are (because you're NOT at all cool- if you were you'd have known the answer to this without posting- anyone who asks a bunch of strangers on an internet forum which T-shirt to wear ain't cool) but to sell YOUR band.
Now if it was Geddy Lee wearing a T-shirt with a picture of you, that'd be cool. Because he's already established for most people that matter to him what Rush is about. And if he wants to plug an up and coming band that's great. But not the other way 'round.
John
