So how useful do you find TalkBass to be. We all love it, why else would you be reading this, but what do you think of it. Vote and discuss

...And the poll would be where?

FWIW, I find TB to be a great source of amusement if anything. It is also both directly and indirectly responsible for the purchase of over $3000 in bass equipment.

sorry, polls up now, i hoping the true feelings will come out down here in the thread though.

As far as me, TBers have been difficult to get anything but strong opinions out of. Legit questions seem to get overlooked in the ocean of the same dumb threads over and over. Some stuff has been helpful, but I really only come here anymore for the pics of gear, and the classifieds. I still love it and most of the folks who come here, the lack of accountability gets on my nerves sometimes though, now one has to put any thought or effort into what they post so things always seem to go south quick. Just my current frustrations though I suppose.

Yeah, you got yer hotheads and yer crybabies and lots of fights over stuff, but there's plenty of good guys here, and TONS of memorable moments that are actually amusing enough to recall occasionally.

People just need to stop letting some online forum get to them so much, IMHO.

For the most part I think we have a nice community of people here on TB. I have gotten some good advice from some of the members here. I like using these forums as a sounding board when I'm just not sure about something.
Sure there's the occasional jerk (I've been one myself) to deal with every now and then, but that's the way it goes.
At the end of the day it's all just text in a box.

It's an intArweb forum.

What you're complaining about is intArweb forum stuff, not TB specific.

You can choose to frequent the place or go somewhere else. Or go somewhere else for a while. Go someplace that has REAL problems.

As with any intArwebs forum, it takes time to get used to the protocol that exists. But what makes TB so interesting is the mix of old folks and kids. You don't know if you're shooting the breeze with a 16 year old who just picked up the instrument or some dude you've read reviews about. A lot of forums are very age segregated. With TB you've got a good shot at interacting with teenagers, kids in their 20s, people in their 30s and upwards. You've got rock folks, jazz folks... and they all mix together. And it's a huge volume of membership.

I voluntarily took a year off from here- but I appreciate the place for what it is. It's a good, moderated forum.

Really been enjoying it, although, it has hit me hard in the wallet.

Since joining TB I have purchased Rob Allen MB-2, Markbass LMII, Berg HS410, and assorted pedals n stuff. I also puchased a NYC Sadowsky 24F5 but I had decided on that purchase before joining .

Since none of the items listed are sold in my area (only now getting MB) I have only TB & Club Bass (which I learned of through TB) to credit/blame.

Later
Rob

PS - I think there is a lack of Sadowsky and Markbass threads
