TB salesmen!!

Hi,
Just a comment on some of the sales threads here on TB. Thre are a few people who make every bass they're selling sound like you must own it now.... I have dealt with a few of them an have always been happy. I just marvel at the marketing skills.

One thing I've learned is that if a 5 string doesn't list a weight it's probably heavy and if the sellers description is "heavier then my P but not as heavy as my Warwick" it's probably really heavy!!

The TB Classifieds are a great place to purchase just about anything. I've seen everything from a single string to a house being sold on here.

Well worth the twenty dollar per year fee. I've probably sold 5K worth of gear on here.

Another thing... TBers usually don't lie about the quality of the instrument they are selling. As TBers are generally more knowledgeable, they usually own better than average basses. So when someone is touting their bass's quality and awesomeness - it's usually true! And I've bought basically every bass I've ever owned off of TB, with exception of just a few.

Actually quite often I've seen alot of hype, people buying into the hype, people realizing they bought into hype then hyping the thing they no longer care for with the same hype.

Ever seen an ad that states this is the best ____ I've ever seen... and now I'm selling it or I'll trade for supposedly lesser items?

Do your homework and ask questions.

"don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle" becomes "don't sell the bass, sell the twang"
