Teaching Music theory

I'm just wondering if getting a job as a music theory teacher would be possible. wether it would be an easy job to get..or it's a job that everybody wants? my thought process is that no matter what..i want to go to a college for music, and learn music theory as well. my first choice of career would be to be some sort of performer, but if that didnt work out, i kind of am assuming that i would still be able to make something of the music theory i learned, and become a music theory teacher (i do LOVE music theory) does this seem like a viable option that i could fall back on if performing did not work out? or would i have as good of a chance making a living performing as i would being a theory teacher?

Where are you looking to teach? In high school? Won't fly, they won't hire you for one class. You'd have to be certified in other areas as well.

FYI, my HS Theory class had four people. Only class.

Here's a post I did that is somewhat on topic:

Going Back to College? See post #2.

You can get an idea of how competitive it really is.
