I still think Liberace would be great, but only if you were so FREAKING metal that his estate's lawyers truly feared you & people eventually came to no longer associated the name w/the original Lib(not a dig at the man, a great entertainer, to say the least).

Edit: Oh, to respond in order w/the OP's request, I'm not a metalhead by any means, but I can certainly appreciate a good band name. Honeymoon Scuba death- it's alright. Doesn't really roll of the tongue like Dethklok, or Gwar.

If you're gonna play power metal, that name ain't long enough. The template should be this : ''The Omnipresent Wizards of the Dragon Slaying Order from the Forest of Doom''.

Black/Death metal should follow the 'non-vowel' pattern, something like ''Twrghrath''. Blood, gore, sacrifice, destruction etc. are all welcome items to be used in forming a similarly long name as in example #1.

Trash bands should have one word in their name, with a flavor of something hot, steely or dirty:

Boom!
Flamethrower
Clang
Motorsomething
Äny nämë wïth Ümläüts ïn ït.

There.

And I like the ''Honeymoon Scuba Death'', although it doesn't sound metaloidish to me

HSD is not really a great band name, but it would be a fine album title.

sounds more like a bad, post-Cobain grunge band name.

ooo the most metal band name...

I think SLAYER was perfect. Easy to chant, implies that there will be death. its all good.

IMO, no one is ever going to top Stormtroopers of Death as a band name, though I did once suggest Exit Wound to a metalhead friend of mine who was looking for band name suggestions.

I think Ümläüt would be a cool, sort of self-parodying name by itself.

A morning DJ here Dave always pipes up when there is some phrase that would make a band name.

This morning it was during a story about the Supercollider. So his new band name of the day is "Hot Dead Clump".

My favorite actual band name regardless of genre was Dirty Rotten Imbeciles.

That would be really cool, maybe if you add an adjective to that, depending on the sub-genre:
Rotting Ümläüt
Ümläüt of Doom/Doomed Ümläüts
The Ümläüt Monster (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Umlaut_monster)

I actually played a show with a band called "Grunt" about a week ago.

Awesome guys, with a great tongue in cheek sense of humor that's missing from the genre

(although I do have a Hatebeak/Canius split 7" that is just hysterical.)

3 Inches of Blood is a pretty sweet band name already. I mean, the crowd gets to chant 'WE WANT BLOOD!'. Thats pretty effin' metal right there.
