Temporary Paralysis of the Arm....

Sign in to disble this ad
How about this one.....

I went out with the boys for a few (more than a few) drinks on Friday night. Woke up on Saturday morning with almost no feeling in my right arm. Can't play bass, tie my shoe, do up my pants, etc.

The most common issue is likely a pinched nerve or "party paralasys" which lasts a few days and goes away 100%. This is where you bacically lie on your arm all night and your booze soaked brain doesnt tell you to roll over.

Scary though. I just turned 40 last week and you always think the worst! Stroke, etc.

I was supposed to host a jam night today and i had to cancel which sucks!

Anyone else been through something similar?

Off to the Dr. now to confim I won't be forced to become a very popular bass seller on the TB forums!

I just found out that I have a pinched nerve in my arm and have to wear a splint/cast for a while. I will likely be unable to play bass AT ALL for 2-6 weeks (that is if there is no nerve damage!). Could be longer!

No bass, no golf, no driving my 5 speed Mustang GT, etc.!!!

Amazing how we sometimes take simple stuff (like playing a simple riff on a bass) for granted. I am lucky it isn't something worse, but boy does it suck to have to cancel gigs (and not be able to do up my pants!)

One of the reasons I posted this. I recall something happening to him or maybe Kerry King... one of the metal guys.

Really bites!

I feel for you, for sure. I've had both the non-serious (sleeping on it wrong and not realizing it) and the serious problems (two major shoulder surgeries). Like you say, you just don't realize how tough it will be not to play until you're not able.

The good thing is that once you heal up, you'll have an even greater appreciation for being able to play again.

Ah, always a pain when something stops you from playing (and gigging!) Hope it comes right asap!
Marve.
