Thanks and NO THANKS

Sign in to disble this ad
Just joined this talkbass thing a few weeks ago and gotta say...

THANKS

Ed Freidland- for some great reviews and knowledge

Jimmy- despite your rather perplexing and undying devotion to all things Ampeg, you are always helpful and kind and keep things on the sunny side

Hasbeen- for all the help and advice

Svtb15- Same as Hasbeen...great to hear a working pro who speaks from experience

Pacman- For your vast knowledge of music

There are of course others, but these are a few names that come to mind

NO THANKS

To all the humorless, smug types that just can't wait to scold and belittle people who don't know as much as they do.

No thanks to all the way too used, meaningless terms like describing music you don't like as 'harmonically static,' or the seeming inability to discuss amps without throwing in a comment about 'PA support.' These weird buzz words catch on for some reason...PA support? Really? I travel with a soundman, but I pick the best amp for as many conditions as I can...small clubs, outdoor fests...what in the world could PA support have to do with choosing an amp?! Hah! Not sure why that one gets to me...

On balance...great to be here!

It's funny... I've been a "lurker" much longer then I've been a member. So I'm new too but I feel as if I've been around longer then my member date. I just think that in big crowds of people there's always going to be some jack *****. The good news is there's more good people on here then the other kind.

I think that's just the nature of the internet, when you can be as anonymous as you want to be. Either way, good to have you here! My suggestion is that no matter what people tell you on TB, blaze your own trail--97% of the things that get discussed here are subjective anyways. The other 3% is a general consensus that Jaco could, in fact, do it with four strings

Great post. Just think how much better it would have been with PA support...

You obviously didn't read the FAQ. The reason for this phenomenon is that static cling actively underpowers the framistans in your PA support. Really, you should have learned this by now.

Apparently some don't live in a world where the term 'PA support' has meaning, and live in the rarified land of affording full time sound engineers and large house sound at every gig.

On the other hand, I'll be playing a show this weekend where PA support will mean vocals only, and I'm glad I've chosen a wonderful sounding yet very loud setup.

That's okay at about half of my gigs, P.A. support = "You guys are bringing the pa for all the bands right?"

Hmm...either I'm missing the joke or you've both missed and made my point...'PA support' is a random meaningless term...you should get the best rig for ALL conditions!

Like any online community.. 5%(being generous) are good human beings. The other 95% are pretentious assholes who probably have no friends outside of their computer. They feel the need to belittle others on here to make up for their lack of personality.
