Thanksgiving eve gigs

Sign in to disble this ad
Man thanksgiving eve is ussual a fun night to gig at bars and clubs. Lots of people are out and they're all in good spirits.
Unfortunately I screwed up way back in August and committed to play a gig at the Elks Club on Nov. 23, not realizing it was Thanksgiving eve. Oh well, everyone who goes to the Elks Club is in bed by 10:30, so I hope I can do some sitting-in later in the evening.

So make me jealous, what kind of gigs do ya'll have tonight?

I have a private "Mad Hatter" party to play tonight. Lots of cool and interesting folks wearing lots of cool and interesting headwear. It should be a masive blowout.

Yeah, parties are almost always fun to play. I played an acoustic (well the guitarist played acoustic and I played quietly) set at a party last night. It was amazing, everyone was quiet and very into what we were doing. Afterward, almost everyone came up to compliment us. A lot more intimate than most gigs.

I couldn't find an antonym to eve..

But we've got a good show coming up the day after thanksgiving.

Oh man....we had one of those last year too...

Last year I was still working at Radio Shack (ugh). Being employed in retail meant I obviously had to deal with the sales on the day after thanksgiving..

I worked from 4:30am till 9pm...then had a show...

that wasn't the bad part. The bad part was eating only two slices of pizza at around 10am and then proceeding to drink heavily in the evening...

Chugging down two Jager-bombs seemed like a good idea at the time....I'm sure all the beers I drank after those didn't help either....

ugh....not pleasant memories

Probably I'll go mix this guy: www.tonyfurtado.com .

It's in a <100 seat club. I've been sitting in on EUB at some of these shows, may well do that again tonight. He's been playing there every Wednesday for the last couple of months. Tony's a great player, and when he tours with a full band he brings along some monster bassists. Myron Dove plays with him pretty often, for instance.

My band is having a funk-jam at the Rongovian Embassy tonight. It's a small club that consistently invites us back. We must be doing somethin' right.

My gig tonight: Jazz quartet at a local sushi joint.

INdi86, the Rongo is definitely one cool room.
