Thankyou Tom Bowlus

I was just re-reading a copy of bass gear mag (for probably the 20th time) and got thinking. I have e-mailed Tom several times about amps, pre's, etc., and every time, he has responded with a quick, polite and sometimes lengthy response. That says alot when you consider that this guy is being e-mailed by many more people, helps run a magazine, deals with his own gas and holds down an actual job.

I have nothing fancy to say, just thank Tom.

This. He also has super powers the tell him when a thread needs his input. it's uncanny.

He's probably the most helpful person around here. and his gear collection is unfair. Thanks Tom!

Aw, shucks! You are very welcome, of course, but I should be the one thanking you for your support of the magazine (and for all the kind words)!

Thanks!

Tom.

Thanks Tom. We don't always agree, of course, but you have been a lot of help to me too.

My experience with Tom mirrors the experience mentions by the bass players posting here.
Tom has been incredibly generous with his time answering some of my questions. So when I read he was planning to launch a bass gear magazine I immediately subscribed. I have not been disappointed and I have learned a lot reading Bass Gear Magazine. There is a huge difference between testing gear and owning it. Most bass journalists review gear objectively but I always give Tom some extra credential because of all the bass gear he actually owns. From the early days of his blog he has gone out of his way to describe bass tone accurately. When some journalists will use one sentence to relate how a cab or amp sounds like, Tom will spend a whole paragraph on the topic. The tones he likes don't always match the one I go for but I can trust his judgment and the quality of his analytical hearing.
If you don’t yet subscribe to his magazine I would recommend you do. For the price of a set of bass strings, you will save a lot of money over the long run by acquiring gear that match your needs and that has been reviewed by a true expert.

I wish a continuous success to Bass Gear Magazine and thank Tom for his passion and dedication.

Tom is first class. Very knowledgeable and (equally important) very cool. I've bugged him in the past with questions myself, and he's been very helpful.

Very well said, that's what makes his posts (and those of Ken Jung and a few others) so valuable.

We are indeed fortunate to have guys like Tom B. around. His desire to share his passion for bass combined with his intelligent reviews and commentary means the bass community benefits big time.

So yes, thanks Tom B.

I would also like to mention a word of thanks to KJung who has often given of his time and many, many times helped TBers with insightful, intelligent commentary & gear decisions.
