Most Theory books I have read are rather childish, and don't challange me at all. I am fairly uneducated musically, just really basic chord/scale theory, but these beginner books... well the main problem seems to be, they don't put any of the ideas into context.
I'd like a book... or even website (Free ) that is challanging, but won't leave me in the dust.

I also was looking for something that was challenging as far as theory goes, and i bought a book off ebay from 1904 and one from 1922. I am hoping that it is more of a structual meathod then a lot of the theory books i have come across lately. I also know a bit about theory, but i would like to know more.

First, this should be in General Instruction. There you'll find plenty of suggestions. Also, there are two topics open right now about "The Jazz Theory Book" by Mark Levine. Check it out.
