Does 3/5 time exist?
Someone from another forum linked this video of a drummer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5ThulqDmKc
Someone said they thought 3/5 is a time signature and now some people are arguing that 3/5 isn't a time signature.
I don't know, so I am asking here
Thanks,

The bottom number has to come from a type of note: 1=whole, 2=half, 4=quarter, etc (there is no "fifth note"). The top number indicates how many of that note occur in the measure.
People often say that the bottom number is the kind of note that "gets the beat" but this is not always true. It's true in 4/4 and 3/4, but not in time signatures like 12/8 (4 beats per measure, dotted quarter gets the beat) and 6/16 (two beats per measure, dotted eighth gets the beat). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
