Are there any guys here who dont prefer/buy a Head + Cab ??

I know that there are an enormous number of discussions that go on in this forum about different cabs and heads and such to get the perfect sound their looking for on stage. But the thing is, I'm more of a DI guy and I've recorded stuff and am pretty happy with my current setup of having the bass plug into my Sansamp BDDI and then DI'ing it.

I'm just wondering what does a guy like me purchase in terms of amplification later on. From whatever I've read on the forums, bigger and better bass amps still end up serving as tone pumpers and stage monitors for the bassist. Wpuld it be better for me to spend money into a subwoofer or PA instead ?
