Is there a current church thread?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've already done a search and cant find any gospel thread. There seem to be so many TBers who play in churches. Is there an area where we hang out? I really dig the overtly spiritual component of playing in a church. I mean, I can definately feel spiritual playing elsewhere, but in church the focus is so clearly on God that it takes my playing to another level. Any other thoughts on playing in church?

Thanks,
Greg

There are several threads that talk about church bassists, technique, gear, etc. For awhile, Paul was thinking about having a separate forum just for us....but he decided against it and several of us found some other sites.

Here are a couple of links that I'm spending more time on:

www.christianmusician.com
www.gospelchops.com
www.christianmusic.org

Enjoy!!

It's all good...

I've always been a Gospel bassist, but my influences are all over the place. The way I see it, God gave me this talent, and I'm giving it back to Him thru Praise and Worship music. I have just as much fun as playing the club scene without the negative after effects!!

Stay in touch my brother, and even though you should be a regular on Christian bassist forums, make sure you stay connected to TalkBass, too....the stuff I've learned here is off tha chain!!!!!

Type in "gospel", "church" "praise", or "worship" in the search field for a TON of threads here on TB.......probably keep ya busy for 6-7 days reading it all

I am part of an email mailing list at http://www.churchbass.org/.

You can send an email and be added to their mailing list automatically by sending an email to churcbass-join@associate.com.

But, I would suggest visiting the site first to see how to send email in the proper (etiquette) form.

I had no idea these sites were out there. Cool. i will check them out too.

No doubt stay in touch here. The stuff (knowledge)to be gained from this site is amazing.

I will say that unfortunately my fellow bandmates in church are so ignorant when it comes to gear and back line set ups that I'm amazed at how little they know.

Guess you'll have to be "the lone voice crying out in the wilderness"

I try. They look at me like I'm crazy at times. I will bring in new gear or try some combo of old and new gear trying out something that was suggested in Talkbass. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but they still think I'm to anal about things.

I love those guys anyway.

head over to the Todd Johnson forum. its not a christian forum specifically, but he's a christian, and there is a huge thread there about church musicians. very interesting reading.
