I've been trying to find a decent 5-guitar stand since having individual stands for each bass takes up a lot of space. The problem is, when I look around on places like Musician's Friend or Amazon, all the reviews are scathing. The pieces don't fit together properly, the foam falls apart and doesn't offer much protection, the stand damages/discolors the instrument, etc.
Are there any multiple guitar stands that are actually good?

I made one a couple of weeks ago. Took about an hour or so.
I, like you, have too many single guitar stands. I had a double too, but found the need to cram all 4 of my basses into an even tighter space so instead of dishing out $70-100 on a stand I just decided to make my own.
my Warbeast won't fit on it. But I knew that when I was making it. |

The screws wont tighten anymore, yet the whole thing wobbles, the padding tears easier then the coating on an Ampeg cab, and I never felt like my Basses and my guitar players guitars were safe on it. Maybe the 3 stand is a little better though. Less weight being put on it. I wouldn't recommend if you're bringing it out. If it's staying in your room, go for it. They make more expensive ones, that fold up into carry cases. Road ready stands. I can't review, because I've never used one.

If I was going to need one for gigging then I'd prolly bomb-proof one with bigger pvc pipe, or dish out for one that's metal.
Up to you. Mine was just to fill a need to get more space out of my office in my apartment. |

A multiple stand takes up a lot of real estate on stage and so severely limits your choices for where to put it. Having multiple single stands gives me flexibility to put them where they'll be safest and out of the way. I can nestle one on either side of my bass amp, tucked in well away from the singers and any inebriated "audience participants".

It flips open to reveal a base on one half for the instrument bodies to rest, and has notches on the upper half for the necks. Very sturdy and definitely road-worthy, unfortunately I have no idea who manufactures these. |
