Is there a Talk Guitar out there?

So I've tried to find a good guitar forum like this one, but I keep coming up with sites that are full of 13 year old metal heads who do nothing but call each other newbs and rant about how great buckethead is. I'm looking for some guitar advice, but from people like you guys. If any of you know of a good forum, please let me know.

Not a bad idea It's been done before. With mixed results.

Bryan, do you keep a list of all the best of all of the frequently-done threads? You're definitely quick on the draw!

Nope, but I'm going to make a sticky called "Looking for a guitar version of TalkBass? Try here..." this week as the question does get asked a ton. The problem is "guitar" and "site" are not searchable terms, so a lot of people look those up and get no results.

Try searching with Google: guitar site -bass

It seems to come up with quite a few hits on the topic.

Here are a couple threads you might want to check out:
1 Best guitar forums
2

If you see hits that don't match, keep adding terms with the - in front to eliminate the unwanted ones.

Good idea. I personally never use the in-site Google search as it doesn't allow for date ranges or posts from specific forums.

I like tdpri.com. It is mostly about Telecasters but a lot of the content is not specific to only that type of guitar. It is my other favorite internet forum.

Have you looked at GuitarChaos? www.guitarchaos.com

The focus is on making and finding backing tracks, recording, recording software & gear. It's a carefully moderated board running the same software as TB. They're a nice group that talk to each other with civility. There is an IM style chat on the home page, a chat room where you can play to BTs & choose to allow others to hear you & they host a room on CamFrog. Supporting members can upload recordings for feedback.

Maybe the makers of TalkBass should get one up and running.

Nah, they'd rather sit back, call them guitards, and talk about how bass players are smarter, less egocentric, and better looking...

I wonder why that might be...

Hmmmmm....

Here's a compromise: Many bassists play some guitar, right? I know I do... How about a sub-section for them!

I'm against it. Eventually it will become TalkMusic and be no better than Harmony Central and Ultimate Guitar

Ok well I doubt TB could ever devolve to Ultimate Guitar standards, but you see what I'm saying.

I joke, but the self-aggrandizing tone of some of the posts in here when guitarists are being discussed does sometimes get a bit tiresome. But everybody's got to have someone to feel superior to, eh?

Bass is technically a guitar so all bassist play guitar.

Yep, although lots of unnecessary lines are drawn/battles are started despite that fact.
