I bought my 3 year old daughter her first 4 string instrument, it's just a ukelele (sp?), but hey, gotta start somewhere.

she loves to play it when daddy is practicing.

I'm quite the proud father.

In the last pic it looks like she's going full on John Myung status tapping.

Man, i wish someone would have given me a bass when i was 3

I just loaned one of my basses to my 11 year old cousin. I gave him 2 instructional books and a few hands on tips to get started. I'm hoping he will be outplaying me in a couple of years, but I'll just have to wait and see

When I was 3 or 4, I got those plastic ukeleles...bleeeeech!!

We got our son a little drum set off of ebay:

He loves it! He's not tall enough to reach the kick drum pedal, but he pounds the tops (and sides) of the drums. Elmo is holding down the kick groove

The drum heads are pretty close to the real thing, not the paper ones used on the kiddie sets sold during my childhood that would last three days if you were lucky.

that's awesome Shelly. I think if we get a couple more kids we could form a little rock band with them....
