Thin cables?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just ordered some AXL cables off ebay and didn't think twice about much, just saw they were TRS 1/4".

Turns out they are pretty darn thin, twice as thin as the cables I usually have. Is this good/bad/neutral? Will it affect the sound/quality?

Chill out, bromosexual. There's really not a clear-cut forum for cables, misc is as good as any.

Anyhow, I've used some pretty thin cables with no negative repercussions, but I prefer a gritty, lo-fi sort of sound. Plug it in, try it out and see what happens. A cable made with better materials can protect your tone, but thickness most likely won't be a big issue. Feel free to contradict me; like I said, just try it and see.

I can't see how it would affect your sound quality. The only thing I'd be concerned with is durability running around on stage.

I agree with everybody else-if nothing else you have some "home" cables,or if your knuckle head guitar player forgets his cable-guess which one he is gonna get

Thick or thin doesn't matter. Often the thickness comes from heavier vinyl, not from more metal in the cable.

What matters is the gauge of the cable inside the insulation. However, it is probably reasonable to presume that a cheap cable which is also thin is not a high quality piece of gear. I use such cables for practice at home, not for performing.
