Things to do in Nashville

Hey, I will be attending Victor Wootens Bass Nature camp and I will be spending an extra day in Nashville. Can anyone give me suggestions on what I should do there? Also, are there any good bass stores to check out?

You could go to the Opry Mills mall and check out some overpriced Tobias basses in the Gibson Store there.

As a Victor fan with the username "metalstorm", I suppose the Nashville music scene might not really be to your taste?

Well, all of broadway is pretty awesome just to walk around on, lots of cool shops, no lack of cowboy hats or boots, that's for sure...

plenty of good grub around, that's for sure. grab some BBQ, head into Gruhn's guitars for a spell (they had a real beat but plays-like-butter 60's J in there a couple months ago)

And check out all the eye candy walking around... PLENTY of that. There is a Guitar Center just outside of Brentwood that has prolly the best bass selection I've ever seen at a GC... Valley Arts guitar is at 12th and Porter (can you take a tour??)

Also, you should check out music row (ask a cabbie) and check out all the record labels and businesses, the majority set in a rural setting, all in houses, you'd never know how much "power" is "housed" on that stretch of unassuming tarmac. Lots of cool shops in that area too.

If you head down to 12th and Porter, go to Judge Bean's BBQ - excellent.

And if you go to the Guitar Center on Thompson Lane (100 Oaks Mall), GO ACROSS THE STREET TO BAJA BURRITO. Seriously, it's amazing.

I love the food here.

And the fact that I have a gig here and get paid, yeah, but seriously...the food.

Can't remember the actual street, but Gruhn Guitars, Ryman Auditorium and this great Barbeque restaurant are all on the same city block in downtown Nashville. The restaurant and Gruhn are on the same street, Ryman around the corner. Plus other shops too. That's where I would go, for sure.

Absolutly, posatively (my spelling sucks) but get to Gruhn and the Barbeque place, 3 or 4 doors up the hill if memory serves.

Best of Luck,

Definitely visit Gruhn's. More cool vintage instruments than you'll ever see in one place.

The BBQ place like four doors down from Gruhn's is called "Jack's".

You can't miss it, there's a big sign with flying pigs.

Here's a link;

Holy crap is their BBQ good!
