After 30 some odd years of only owning 4 fat stringed instruments, I did the unthinkable, bought a guitar.
Even stranger, a 3/4 Squier Strat. I'm actually impressed with the quality for the price, but the entire guitar, end to end fits between the nut and bridge of my Ray.
The idea is my 8 and 10 year old bass players need some incentive (playing together) and exposure to guitar to make them better. Next year the oldest can get a chance to play BG in the Jazz Band, so I'd like to get him on the electric a bit more. Hopefully if one noodles around on guitar, the other will pick up the bass.
I also offered them a summer deal: Learn 'Hey' by RHCP on guitar, album speed, note for note and I'll give them $50. $25 for bass (they think that's in the bag, but don't realize the stretches involved).
That goes with other incentives, all keys: scales and modes (the length of the neck) $10 each.
