Today, I went back to my roots.....

Waking up this morning, after getting ready for work the last thing I do before going out the door is grab a couple of CD's to listen to at work (I drive for a living).

So basically, I unearthed my Sublime CD I made, a collection of my favorite songs from their first two albums (I have the original albums and decided to put my favorites on one CD).

Basically, Sublime single handedly convinced me to by my first bass guitar! They are the ones that schooled me for the first year of my bass playing! I guess you can say they are my foundation because not only did their "sound" attracted me to the bass guitar, I spend many afternoons, nights and week ends learning their tunes.

They also was the perfect bridge of reggea and rock which later opened up my curiosity to straight up rock music. I later adopted my own style but after listening to some sublime today, especially after a long time not hearing it, It totally opened up my eyes to how far I've come along!

I can actually recognize what notes are being played and songs that I spent hours learning just seemed a lot less complicated. After listening to where I came from, I feel refreshed and I think I fell in love with the Bass Guitar all over again. I just had to share this with some one. Peace!

That's cool. I did that a few days ago. I threw on some Iron Maiden and Megadeth. Then I decided to go way back and spin my old Green Day albums.

It's a good thing I think. When I heard some of the songs for the first time in years, they reminded me of how I felt when I first heard them, or what I was doing at the time, or how amazed I was at bass playing that I now find really simple.
