Too Much New Gear at Once?

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone ever bought too many things at once at felt overwhelmed the at its first use?

I'm going from this:

Washburn T-24 Bass
Behringer 300W Head
Hartke VX115 and VX410

to this:

Lakland 44-01 Bass
Ampeg B4R Head
SWR Goliath 6X10

This Saturday will be the first gig with the new gear. I also run sound for our band from the stage -- on top of that it's a venue we haven't played before! I'm feeling some anxiety about getting everything sounding good with all of the drastic changes!

Anyone have any calming words of advice for me?

Just find a basic tone that works with most of the songs and venture carefully (being a live gig) out from there!

Guess that's about all I can do... I've only been able to play my new stuff in our practice room, which is really small - but even then the sound is SO different!

gadgetx23: come on man.. don't bother.. you have a great rig and a great bass.. nobody ever complained if something sounds ...just goreous ... find a good tone (with this rig and this bass shouldn't be difficult thing ) and just enjoy !

I try to avoid that much new gear at once in the case of a problem it's more difficult to troubleshoot, especially if you haven't had much practice with the gear.

However, it's a lot more fun with all new gear

Thanks guys. We had another practice last night and I was REALLY happy with the sound I was able to get. What a drastic change... amazing what good equipment can do!

Like tplyons said though - too much new gear is hard to troubleshoot when something goes wrong. I'll hope for the best!
