I was in the neighborhood so I took a walk to see what's going on around there. I haven't been to W48th st. in a few years...I really have no reason to go other than to just "look around".
Anyway, Manny's (as you may or may not know is going out of business) looks like it's been looted. There's sheets of paper, garbage & stuff all over the floors ( no reason to clean up any more I guess), almost nothing left on the wall as far as strings & accessories. There are a LOT of 80's metal type guitars left over, about 20 DimeBag Dean guitars and a bunch of Fender.
Bass-wise, not too much. Things that caught my eye were a USA G&L L2500 for $849, trans blue with a bird's eye neck, and an L2000, a Warwick Streamer 6-string (man, can't say that I've ever seen a sting spacing as WIDE as that. Probably .75" between strings at the bridge. You can land a plane on that fretboard. Couple of nice Spectors and a bunch of USA fenders. But the prices weren't all that low either. The Signature fenders were still over $1200, but they did have an extra 20% off Fender gear anyway.
Then went over to Sam Ash across the street. Not much there to speak of...at least nothing handing on the walls that caught my eye, except ofr an original '78 P for $2500.
That place looked so depressing. Too bad Rudy's was closed, it probably would have brightened by day...
