I have been nursing a slightly busted up case that came with my P-Bass for a couple years now (a no-name brand plastic Polyethylene case). It is all bent up near the headstock end of the case. The previous owner must have put something heavy on it and the weight cracked and buckled the plastic, such that it doesn’t really close properly unless you squeeze the hell out of the bent up plastic shell trying to get the latch to set properly. I don’t even bother to close that latch most of the time.
This was my first experience with a plastic case…needless to say it makes me a little nervous about their reliability, but again, this case was far from being the premium plastic-type specimen.
I don’t need the case to be able to withstand a nuclear blast. However, it needs to be able to handle the rigor of:
-The general in the car, out of the car to the jam/show.
-The drummer knocking my DI or god knows what else off my cab straight on to the case without cracking/denting/smashing the hell out of it.
-And of course the ability to punish all corner walls and doors with impunity!
Additional Notes:
My Bass is left-handed, so the case needs to be left-handed friendly.
i.e.: I am screwed with fitted interior types like this:

(too bad because SKB stuff looks pretty good)
Thanks for the help,
Lefty
