Depends on the level of the act, and their need for a dedicated bass tech.
Most small - medium level acts I've worked with have a single guitar tech that does all the guitars, including the basses. cleans them, changes strings before each show, checks amps are loaded in/loaded out properly, maintains pedal boards, ensures all cabling is properly connected, etc. The guys that I've known that do this stuff ? They get peanuts. a couple hundred bucks a week, plus food & lodging, where they usually share a single room with the drum tech and sound guy. However, they do get to travel to some really cool places.
Above that ? I don't know anyone who has ever been a dedicated bass tech, so I can't figure that one out, though in a band that size, I figure the bass tech would at least get his own room.
"I pay the band what it takes to keep them and keep the rest."
