Trading amps

Hey guys, I was just wondering how you go about trading amps with people without meeting them (via here, ebay, etc.). I've never done anything like that before. How would you ensure that you are indeed "swapping" without actually being there for a transaction? The last thing I would want is to indeed send someone my amp and not get one in return! Thanks, have a great day!

Post your amp and what you're looking for in trade in the TB classifieds section. Post pictures. When someone contacts you with an offer, check his/her feedback, get pictures of the item you'll receive and ask ALL possible questions. Since you have no feedback you may have some trouble finding someone to dance with at first. Exchange of phone numbers, email etc helps reassure people. Read the sticky in the classifieds section entitled "how not to get ripped off on the internet".
Good luck. Becoming a "confirmed" Paypal customer also helps.

I haven't traded an amp here, but I have traded basses, pedals and various other items, all with great success. I must say, though, that I would not do this on ebay or anyplace else. There is a certain trust factor present on TB that I do not feel elsewhere.
