Is this tradition?

Most guitar players would have their guitar cable go up and around their strap.

Why is that?

That way, if you step on your cord you're less likely to unplug it.

So when you step on your cable you don't yank the cable out of your guitar.

If you don't loop the cable around your strap and accidentally step on the cable, you risk damaging some components and/or having the cable pulled out.

Been there, done that, had to buy a new jack, and learned how to install it the hard way.

Hi.

Only ******* will do it otherwise.

IMHO nothing describes a face-palm moment better than yanking the cable off during an intro or solo on a gig.

And he still doesn't wrap the cable...

However, if You're fan of the b***-toss and don't have a wireless, securing the cable can knock You down when it strangles you .

Regards
Sam

Didn't look at the clip, but from the responses I know what it is.

That's automatic. Even my kids do it. It also why it's good to use 45 degree angle ends at the instrument, keeps things flush.
