Tribal Planet Gig Bag? Recommend other gig bags?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone have any experience with these? They look to be pretty good, and the price is right at about $55 from bassexchange.com.

The GX15 model looks very reasonable for the money. I'm looking for a gig bag with the aproximate stiffness and protection of a hard case. If you don't recommend this gig bag, than what would you suggest?

Yikes! You call $225 shipped for one of those a "bit more expensive". I'm sure they are fantastic, but very much out of my price range.

+1,000 on the Access Stage 5. I emailed the company to find out where I could get one, and they sent one out that day to a private music store two blocks from my house. Access is a great company when it comes to cutomer service, It's a great bag, and I reccommend it highly.

The Tribal Planet padding is good, and the straps are excellent, but my bag was let down by the fabric. The coloured fabric is not very scuff resistant, and does not wear well on the edges. It's fine if you carry it and put it down carefully, but if you put it into a car boot/trunk, and slide it to the back, it will show noticable wear after 2-3 months.

Another minor niggle is that the 'hard-wear' patches inside do not cover the bridge, or the tuning heads, where I would expect the rough edges/screw-heads/end of strings to be.

I had one of the Tribal Planet bags for about 5 minutes. I snet it back as soon as I saw it in person, and immmediately order an Incase SlimBag.

The TP bag is (IMO) the ugliest gigbag on the planet!

I was checking this one out also. It looks decent for the price, but I won't get my 55-02 until tomorrow. Bought it used w/out a case, and want to gig it Sunday - but not without a case. Need something for 35" scale bass.

So, bump!!

Well done! IMO, it will serve you well. I've had one for a couple of years and it looks just like the day I bought it.

For anyone interested in knowing, Access Cases doesn't sell online through themselves or any retailer. They only have their bags available in small privately owned music stores (ie not Guitar Center or Sam Ash). Can't get them at all in CT
