Tribute Bands You Would Like To See

Sign in to disble this ad
We would all like to see our favorite bands in a live setting, but sometimes this seems unlikely (i.e. higher ticket prices, band no longer exists, they rarely tour, etc.). There are some bands that have hundreds of tribute bands (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Metallica come to mind), but what about some other artists that have a strong fan base but no one seems to form tribute bands in their honor?

Personally, I think it would be pretty cool seing a Beastie Boys tribute group. Plenty of us white boys can rap (or at least think we can ), but if I saw 3 men pull of their material AND match their voices to near perfection, I would be pretty impressed.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Maybe a Dream Theater one, but it wouldn't work

I think tribute bands are a waste of time personally. People should focus on creating their own music, not always other people's music.

I saw Bjorn Again (ABBA tribute) - it was a great show.

None. There's something odiferously cheesy about tribute bands. Kind of like the frayed, faded seat cushion from a barstool in a low-rent Las Vegas lounge...

So far the only tribute band that has ever impressed me was a Beatles tribute called Me And My Monkey.

They put on a HELL of a show. But it's way more theatrical than just a typical band performing. They have fvour 'eras' of Beatle tunes and dress differently for each.

I had seen another Beatles tribute while I was in the Navy. I don't remember their name, I think it was Sergeant Pepper. But I can't swear. They were just okay. Me And My Monkey were darned impressive. I give them proper respect for their costume changes, something I probably wouldn't have been as conscientous about. But more, I was impressed musically. And they were better about keeping the geat accurate than others I've seen as well. For amusing extra points, the guys portraying Paul and George are actually named Paul and George, respectively. And I've got to say that the guitarists were each more technically capable than the real guitarists whose parts they were emulating.

Other than them again? I can't think of any that I'm particularly interested in..

Not so with The Musical Box. They ROCK and I'd love to see them again.

To cure ignorance: The Musical Box is a Genesis tribute band, and they replicate the PG era tours in every detail. It's amazing.

I vaguely recall hearing about a Queen tribute that sounded interesting, too.

It remided me of a Tonight Show performance where one of the former American Idol castoffs came on and did Bohemian Rhapsody. He had a twelve piece backing choir, along with a pretty capable band. The only disappointing part was...well...him.
