Trigger Finger

I just got re-diagnosed from arthritis (very scary) to trigger finger (much less scary), and got a shot of cortisone to fix me up.

Anybody here ever had this?

Yep! Though I opted for surgery. Just about 6wks ago.

I've had problem with trigger finger several times. I have used the cortisone, but if after several shots spread out over many months, it recurs (as it did for me in my thumb), then you will need the surgery. Surgery was easy as far as surgery goes, but the less people come at me with knives the better. However, my thumb was locking up totally and affecting my bass playing and everything else where I use my left hand - I'm a leftie.

I've never had this problem, but it sure would get in my way because I've never learned to play with a pick. Perhaps it would help to learn to use a pick?
