Trouble with an Alesis SR16

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought an Alesis SR16 here on TB.
Turns out it doesn't work.

I just (finally) got a new power supply, that didn't fix it.

Power comes on, display comes up, but there's no sound. Patterns don't play, tapping the keys doesn't yield drum sounds. Volume is up (the problem is consistent at all volume levels).

Any suggestions for things to try before I consign this to the "purchases that didn't work" bin?

Have you talked with the seller about it?

I'd look inside and see if there are any loose or damaged wires, or cracked solder joints, or any corrosion.

Try replacing the battery{if you know how to solder}. Its a quick $3 potential fix and worst case scenario it still wont work.

This might sound stupid/obvious (but you don't say in your OP) - you do realize that it doesn't have a speaker, right? You do have to run the audio outs into something.

Yes... it's good to point out the obvious, though.

I'll be replacing the battery. Seller's being very good about it, if it doesn't wind up working I can send it back.
