Which tuner should I buy for a Dean fretless 5-string?

A couple years ago when I bought my acoustic I bought a Sabine MT9000 tuner for I think $30. It works great with my acoustic, but with my Dean Edge fretless 5-string bass it takes forever to register a note, and sometimes displays the wrong note.

Since this is my first bass (and also a fretless) I need a better tuner so I can work on my intonation. Do I really need to spend $100 on a Boss TU-2 or $190 on a Peterson? I just want something that will register the note quickly and accurately and work while I'm using my amp. If it matters my head has a tuner output and a tuner mute switch, so a pedal tuner isn't strictly necessary.

The best guitar tuner I've ever used is my $14 Korg cheapie. It picks up the high C and low B on my 5 and 6 strings instantly.

Korg GA-30?

Also if there's another thread that addresses this question point me to it...I searched and didn't find any that said how the $100+ tuners were superior to the cheaper tuners.

There have been extensive discussions on tuners in the past. The reason you're not getting a lot of replies is that most people have posted good and easily searchable answers already.

I know you think your bass is the greatest, but you don't need a custom tuner built just for you. It's a mass produced instrument, for Pete's sake.

I've just gotten a Korg CA30. By far the best tuner for the money That I've ran across. Even works great on my URB.n

Chromatic, displays notes, audible reference tones that covers the full chromatic scale, easy calibration and displays notes instantly and accurately.

The only negative that I've found is that the display has no back lighting. A small price to pay for a great little tuner.

I recommend it highly. At $19.95, I don't think you can beat it.
