OK, I'm going to be touring with a band that tunes low. My E string, at it's lowest, will have to go to A#. Needless to say, my 15 dollar piece of crap tuner isn't cutting it. I'd also like a stop box model.
Can the Boss tu-2 handle low A#? Is there any better/cheaper options. My only requirements, can handle A# (I suppose I could tune to the 12th fret harmonic... but still) and is a stomp box and won't kill my tone. I want to be able to tune silent, without unplugging.
Is the Boss tu-2 the best option? Both guitarist from the band have it, and they sometimes tune midsong (during bass breaks) which is kinda nice, the lower you tune, the quicker you go out of tune.

big respect!

And thank you Terrorstorm for the listen. Finding a singer who can do the traditional doom style is rough, good luck.

If you're just tuning a standard gauge string down that could account for a lot of your tuning trouble. I'm not one to discourage you from getting a better tuner too, but I'm not sure it will make the problem go away.

Tuning isn't a problem. I stay in tune through a whole set... but when we tune, it's out loud/annoying (well, I'm out loud) and we go from C to A# once per set.

Everyone else has a silent tuner... I'm the loud one.
Diggler: A# would be fine, but I'd have to put extra tension on the neck when we played in C. The other strings would constantly be tuned up as well, when we tune to A#, it's like "Dropped D" tuning." We tune down 2 steps, then during half the songs, the C goes down to an A#.

DarkHarted says it goes down to A. | And reacts quick too! I now have my bass tuned AEAD for the most part now. I use the bottom 4 of a D'addario 160-5 set. the low A is a 0.135" string. |

That looks really sweet actually, I like how it's not big/bulky either. I'm leaning to the Planet Waves now...
