TV Show Basslines

Someone posted this on FB...did not realize this theme had such an upbeat bassline!

Macy Gray - I'm In Between (As Told by Ginger) Bass Cover - YouTube

Any other cool TV-show theme basslines?

The funkiest TV theme bass lines are Barney Miller, Night Court, and Sanford and Son.

Of course. There's a couple of classics from two long-defunct shows:

1) the fingerstyle R&B-type bassline from the theme for Barney Miller: Barney Miller theme

and

2) the funky slap bass theme used for Seinfeld: Seinfeld theme

Seinfeld? That's the most famous one, as far as I know, with the slap line.

Everybody Hates Chris has a cool bass line during the intro theme. Simple, but cool...I think its Marcus Miller too!

It was played on a synth though.

The bass line for Mission Impossible is also the horn section line but still memorable.

The bass line from Peter Gunn is also played by other instruments but nontheless a memorable line.

But of course...how could I have overlooked Seinfeld? I'm an avid fan!

Cool submissions guys. Trying to lay down a few of these as we speak

Barney Miller! I remember playing that when I first started, it has a cool F7 lick that I used forever even when I was playing straight-ahead jazz. "Night Court" has a great theme too. I once had TV's greatest hits from the 1970's and there were some nice bass lines for things like "Josie and the pussy cats", "Brady Bunch" etc. Nothing like a good sticom to relate to while playing music!

Again....NOT a bass. No instruments were used on that show.
Jonathan Wolf did the whole show from his extra bedroom with a synth or two and a slew of samples. No bass!

I once did a concert with Hal Linden, the star of Barney Miller.
Hal's a Broadway singer and has a great big band book.
We did a little rehearsal earlier in the day. I open the book in a hurry and just get the first chart up. We start playing and I realize its just me at the beginning, and ...HEY!!! Its the BM theme! It was very cool reading the original bass part.
Hal was an absolute sweetheart. Good singer too.

The bass from the Fat Albert theme is phat. Hard to believe those kids played that well with garbage from a junk yard.

Although it was written for a movie, it did have a very long run as a cartoon.

Love that jazzy sound.

King of the Hill Theme
Simpsons Theme
Inspector Gadget (The 80's/90's cartoon)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the 80's/90's cartoon)
