Two basses into one Direct box????

Sign in to disble this ad
Have any of you ever tried putting two basses into one direct box? If so, how did it work? Any thing I have to look out for? Any suggestions on how to do it?

Reason I am asking is I would like to play two different basses at times, but cannot always signal the sound person to turn one up and one down...I want to have the control to make it easier to switch......any help would be appreciated!!!

Hmmm...this thread might make more sense in the electronics forum, but I'll give a little help. You may run into a few snags with what you are trying to do. First, combining two basses into one input may give you some impediance issues. Your basses' volume may drop a bit while the noise floor will stay the same (or louder). Second, you will have one bass signal that is louder than the other...unless your basses have the same exact output levels (very rare). The Boss LS-2 Line Selector is a great pedal for fixing this. You can set it to be used as an A/B box with independant output levels (passive, however).

You need a new sound man if he doesn't notice you playing two basses.

The BassBone is great. Also, Raven Labs made a couple two- and three-instrument DI's that show up used occasionally. Very nice, too.
