Two things..
GK Suck (From my one short lived experiance)
Valves and fridges still just kick f***ing arse (UK)
Rehearsal yesterday, Using my now usual set up, LMIII GK NEO 112 II. About ten minutes in the cab just stops. I unplug and then re-connect everything etc, nothing, Cab's just completely cold and unresponsive.. Bed, Mrs, Joke.
I only ordered the cab, brand new from a shop no less, on 3rd January, not even three months use. I only rehearse with the band once a fortnight/month, and gig once a week/fortnight with it. Never pushed hard by the Little Mark - 300w 8 Ohms. Volume at nine o'clock.. ten for gigs maybe. I DI as well so its only stage monitoring and kaput.. So there's a return.
And on to the second thing..
The reason i picked up the LMIII (Bargain at the time, £280 boxed and receipt, few months old) and the 1x12 was because I was playing out a lot more gigs picking up and was getting bored of the load in/out of the still amazing-est completely awesome tone-ness growl warm onomatopoeic JCM 800 and VBC 810. Now don't get me wrong, The LMIII is a really brilliant brilliant amp. and worked well with the GK and sounded really great with the 810, especially when I'm playing (well messing around as i'm not that good) jazzy, morderny fun bassist stuff. But i'm grunge, i'm thrash, i'm punk, i'm "INSERT SHOEGAZY TWINKLY ALTERNA ROCK INDIE OF ARCTIC KINGS OF I'VE HAD A STROKE YEAH YEAH YEAH".. erm KIM DEAL.. And having to drag out the fridge and the 25 watts a piece EL34's was totally totally why the hell aren't I doing this every gig. No DI'ing no nonsense no problems..
I may start forfeiting pay for people. They can set up. I can spend more time talking about my long low floppy notes to the ladies..
Anyway, off to bed for me. session recordings on the morrow.
P.S.. All bass is fun bassist stuff.
Oh.. Another thing. Line 6 G30. Amazing. First time I've got to gig with it and fantastic. Best selfish present in a long time.
Bed.
Or maybe those 16 digits and expiry date I know by heart need to meet an AE112.. |
