| | | | Uke Players?

So I decided that I wanted something to strum on, but wanted something other than a guitar. A good customer of mine is an insane uke player. I was talking to him and he had a concert uke that he wasn't using very much, so I was able to trade him for a 60's Gibson tube amp that I had that he wanted.
Honestly, I'm having a blast with it! I didn't expect that. My wife is ready to stab herself in the ear with an icepick, but I think she'll get over it.
Anyone else play?

It's a fun little thing but I still need to do a bit of work to get the intonation right. Dang re-entrant tuning makes compensating the bridge a bit tricky.
And I know all about punishing those around you with the ukulele. Luckily I now live on my own and I can strum to my heart's content.

I just look at what the guitarist is playing. I enjoy playing blues with it the most surprisingsly. But everything is very fun. |

I still play a little; have an old 60's Martin Style 0 uke.
Have you checked out Jake Shimabukuro? Also, Ohta-san (his son too) was really popular when I was younger. Anybody remember Tiny Tim ? |

I have been pondering the thought of getting one recently, just whenever the money appears for one I spend it on bass stuff. hahaha |

| | | | Wow! Surprised to see so many players.
It was kind of an off the cuff choice to get the Kamaka Uke I've got now, but I'm loving it. I got it on trade, but there's no way I would have dropped the kind of money on this thing that the previous owner did.
I've been playing it for hours on end. I haven't had that kind of desire for an instrument in a while. I have no idea if I'm going to actually do anything with it, but it's a fun thing to plink around on.

Go either Beltona or National and buy used. I like my blue Beltona resonator, a concert model. Sounds just like the 1920's.

It's really something great to hear for those of us that never gave it a thought as far as his music was concerned! Paul explains the intro before playing the piece. George really loved that instrument along with others. Have fun!
