The ultimate in craftsmanship...

For those who are not aware, brothers Hugh and Andy Manson have been building guitars for top UK players for decades. Hugh had a retail bass store in the UK, but doesn't build many custom instruments any more (except for his friends and local customers). When John Paul Jones goes out on tour, Hugh goes along as his tech and is a great guy...very personable and fun to talk to. Andy is more of an active builder and has crafted many of the acoustic instruments used by Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and other "classic rock" greats. For those who appreciate art and fine craftsmanship, I thought that you might enjoy THIS!

Thanks for that! It is truly art. Not only is the sculpture very lovely, but that music is gorgeous!

The guy I write with plays with a very similar style. We do a number of songs that feature the Mandocello or Bazooki (not completely sure which is the correct name for the instrument - he uses them interchangibly) - And the songs he writes on that instrument are very similar to the piece being played in that video.

I sent this along to him so he can enjoy it too. Jim is also a sculptor - his medium is ceramics and he makes really great doumbeks and kimkims. I think he will really enjoy seeing this marriage of sculpture and instrument making!

Thanks!

If I had a guitar like that I'd never leave my room...

On a more serious note, this is amazing. I love functional artwork: motorcycles, cars, guitars, stringed mermaids.

That's beautiful. The attention to detail is unreal. I can only imagine how many man hours went into that build.
