Question Ultimate ears 11 pro - worth it?

I'm in a band that uses in ear monitors. I use sure e5's and I love them. I love the isolation but I can't stand it when they fall out do to moisture.

I'm looking to upgrade to custom in ear monitors. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any model/make and would perhaps steer me in the right direction. I was looking at sensaphonics or Ultimate Ears. Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Chris

I use The Ultimate Ears UE-5 Pro, Dual driver, custom molded, and cheaper than UE 10's and 11's. Love them.

If you talk with the folks at UE, they'll recommend the UE7's for a live sound application.

They told me the 7's have the best low end response (great for bass) and are optimal for live use as they have a sealable port to blend some ambient sound with your mix.

The 10's and 11's seem to be overkill for live music. From what I can tell the top touring musicians consistently use the 7's.

YMMV. When I get my 7's I'll let you know how I like them.

My LiveWires (customs, dual driver, detachable/swiveling cables) order and impressions were received by the company today and I'm anticipating a 3 week turnaround time. For $249, I'm looking forward to them and I'll let you know in 4 weeks how it went.

I'm pretty sure you can get the custom molds made and use them with your E5's. Is that not an option???

Instead of foam tips, use the shure triple flange. Ain't no way they're going to fall out with those things. I actually cut off the first flange because it wants to poke my ear drum, and even with 2 flanges, they're a lot harder to get out than the foam tips. I actually tried shaking them loose with some vigorous "head-shaking" and I couldn't get them to budge.

And if you wipe em down with an alcohol wipe before you put them in, they stay cleaner and last longer than the foams.

Big +1 on the triple flange!

I received my LiveWires last week and will be playing with them live the first time tonight.

I listened to some MP3s with them and man, are they isolating. I think I'll have to come up with some ambient sound solution, but the sound is awesome.

My drummer bought a pair of Sennheiser CX300's this week and is in love with them for about $70; they have one rubber flange and he says they're not coming out. I think the rubber has a quicker "spring" and reflex than the foam, and why they seem to be more secure. He'll probably be trying them live tonight too, but is a little hesitant on the idea of IEMs for now. I think he'll be sold.

I use Sennheiser CX300's as well. When you consider I also own a pair of Westone UM2's, that's saying something................

The westones are more efficient and therefore louder, but the sennheiser CX 300's make my bass sound more like a bass. And they're a fifth the price!!!!!

It's all outlined in detail in this thread.

In-Ear monitoring on the cheap - my successful experiment.
