and, well, frankly, nobody likes a (bad) bass solo. If your solo is going to be bland (especially if it's just you on the stage) don't do it man...many snore I can slap so fast and I can play arpeggios at ____ bpm solos were up there, and damn, I was bored.
And if you're going to be a wanker, do it good! Theatrics! Billy Sheehan, for example, all his solos sound the same, but is that a bad thing? Hell no! (his improv'd ones) Don't just stand there with this bland "I hate this" look on your face...have fun!!! Don't stay glued to your fretboards.
...and most crowds enjoy, yaknow, a GROOVE man. Most normal people would rather hear Fantastic Voyage over the Ytse Jam solo (and I'm a HUGE John Myung fan, I just have a broad taste in music.)
I'm not saying I'm good enough to do bass solos or anything, I'm just saying they can be really, really boring. So be considerate of the crowds...
