Looks like something that would have been used in a keyboard lab in an academic setting. Cool find.

That's exactly what these were made for - not portable (with the super heavy base,) and the amplification is built in.

More here:http://www.fenderrhodes.com/models/student.php

And at that price, a steal!

Not exactly like any other Fender Rhodes is "portable." Had an 88 key stage II model for a while -- HUGE

OK., my mind is permanently in the gutter, but that looks like it belongs in a public men's room. I like it though.

Never saw that version! I remember those rows and rows of Wurlitzer Electric Piano's in music schools back in the day (with the built in headphone amps). This must have been Fender's attempt at getting some sales in that market.

Reminds me of one I saw in a music store in Pullman, WA last fall. Bet one of those WSU students grabbed it.

Its called the student model. Universities used to use them alot. the teacher could link up and listen to each student individually similarly as to what they do today in class settings.
People commonly refer to it as the Jetsons model. They came in different colors...mustard yellow, green, fiesta red, the first ones came in gold sparkle.

They were heavy beasts for sure. Nice to be able to get the sound from a VST plug-in now. I use Lounge Lizard, and it's a perfect virtual Rhodes.

Its not light at all...I have moved it by myself...( dumb idea) ,but this is the Fender Rhodes that I use. I took this pic the day I drove to pick it up last year.

I wish I was close to KC...that's a fantastic price for that piano. They can go for alot in good condition.
