Upbeat Fun Music that Doesn't SucK?

Sign in to disble this ad
When I'm at work, I get to listen to music. And when to fun upbeat music, it makes my day go faster. But here's the problem, I hate 80% of the upbeat fun music I've heard in my life. Pop punk, ska, etc. I own two albums I can think of that help me get through the work day. Oingo Boingo's Skeletons in the Closet and Devo's Greatest Hits. And I don't like all New Wave, some of it drives me nuts. Oingo Boingo is my favorite of this catagory. I think it's more an issue of polyphonic uptempo fun music... that isn't generic.

So give a doomy, metal, hard rocker guy some dorky fun music to listen to. But try to limit the suck level.

fossilized aposle and I comb it with a rake

Soul Coughing is great, neo-jazzish, great bass and drum beat, interesting lyrics. Its not country, but still cool.

Here's a few upbeat ones, may take you some time to find them
all, but it will be worth the search!

The harder they come
the harder they fall,
one and all ....

No woman no cry ...

If good looks was a minute,
you could have been an hour ...

Dance with me,
closer,
closer and closer
and maybe
we'll be lovers
when the music ends ...

Ahhh, In love
yes i was falling in love
with your buttons and bows....

C'mon be my baby
C'mon be my baby
I'l buy you a diamond
I'll buy you a diamond ring
If you don't want that honey,
won't buy you a goddamm thing.

That's a good upbeat start!

wow that's kind of weird, Oingo Boingo just came on in my library shuffle, I saw the thread title, and thought "I'll suggest oingo boingo!"

weird.

that said, I suggest ska, it's about as upbeat and fun as you can get.

Everything and anything by Oingo Boingo. I used to be a great fan of Madness also. Their music got a bit cheesy towards the end of things, but the early stuff. . . . Try Save Ferris. They have an interesting sound.

Soul Coughing is one of the few groups I can actually say I truly HATE. Can't stand that stuff.

Happy music that doesn't suck? Bob Marley, James Brown, anything on MoTown, the Cardigans (seriously), Fine Young Cannibals, Counting Crows (not exactly upbeat; it just sounds like it), Duke Ellington, Frank Zappa, Grand Funk Railroad, Allman Brothers, Huffamoose, John Frusciante (sounds happy; it's not), Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, Lynard Skynard, Junior Brown, Lyle Lovett, Michael Jackson, No Doubt, Nusfrat Ali Khan, Oingo Boingo, Orleans, the Police, REM, Seal, Sade, Steely Dan, Talking Heads, Stevie Wonder, U2, Van Halen, and Slayer.

Ever listen to The Eels? It's not all upbeat but the song "Fresh Feeling" off of the album Souljacker came to mind when you said that. Good album, pretty upbeat. I may just have a skewed version of 'upbeat'.
