Upgrading a Agile P-90 equipped flattop NEED HELP!

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a AD-201 and after going through having to rewire it (actually my guitarist friend did it*) to be able to use the switch I thought about upgrading everything on it. I replaced the pots with 500k all parts and replaced the switch.** The pick-ups I was looking at were Lollar brand p-90's.

As for the bridge I was thinking about the Bigsby B-5.

And to prevent the need of modification this Vibromate V5.

Anyone know of a decent tune-o-matic that would fit this combo? What types of pick-ups would sound best? The 50's wound? The overwound? I know little in this field. As for sound I am looking for, a bluesy rock.

*He is a competent in soldering.
** I also need new knobs as the ones on the previous pots don't fit the new ones.

Looks like my wifes Melody maker- Bigsby, mini humbuckers not P90's, but still.

Bridge-http://store.guitarfetish.com/wibrrobrlost.html

or what you have now. Hers uses a stock Gibson wrap around bridge has worked for years.

Pickups- first what don't you like about yours?
IMHO the one you posted are too much $$$
Your tone will change with the Bigsby add a set of .011 strings should get yo closer, not sure if the change to 500k pots was good or not-

Thanks for the response. About the pick-ups, they sound thin, thinner than that of a Epiphone Casino I tried at the mom and pop shop. Maybe they are suppose to sound thin?
